“My research interest is to develop interesting computational geometry algorithms and appreciate those amazingly beautiful graphics they produce.”
Baisong is a visiting postdoctoral scholar from China. He has been working for the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences since he achieved his PhD in GIS and mapping. He is passionate about emerging sciences and technologies, especially regarding IT and GIS. In scientific research, he focuses on developing interesting computational geometry algorithms and exploring their great potential in GIS applications. For example, how to evenly place N points within a polygon or on a sphere? This is useful for determining the positions for satellites in geostationary satellite systems. He applies charge repulsion simulation to accomplish this. See the green spheres in his profile picture for an example of the results.
